Brian D. Katz
LAJ 2025-26 Immediate Past-President
Brian Katz’s practice includes personal injury; construction, highway and premises liability; products liability; and attorney fee disputes. He has also defended commercial litigation, legal malpractice, products liability, construction and civil RICO matters.
Katz has spoken at and moderated educational programs for LAJ, the state bar, and National Business Institute. He is a board member of the New Orleans chapter of the Federal Bar Association, a member of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and a member of American Association for Justice.
He is the fifth LAJ president to have worked at his firm or one of its predecessors. As a child, he attended LAJ conferences with his father, Morton Katz. He and his father practiced together for more than 20 years.
“To say that LAJ principles have been ingrained in me since I was young is an understatement,” Katz said.
Katz is committed to civic work. He served as board chair for the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans. He is a former president and past capital campaign chair for the Jewish Community Center, and he co-chaired the Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership.
Katz has earned several awards for his civic work, including the Anne Goldsmith Hanaw and J. Jerome Hanaw Tikkun Award, the John N. Weinstock Leadership Award, the Maurice Feingertz Memorial Leadership Award and the United Way of Southeast Louisiana’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society.
Katz earned his J.D. degree from Tulane University Law School.
