Brian D. Katz

Brian Katz, a partner of Herman, Herman & Katz, LLC, New Orleans, has a broad civil practice that includes cases involving personal injury, construction, business litigation, highway and premises liability, products liability, and attorney fee disputes. He has defended commercial litigation, legal malpractice, products liability, construction, and civil RICO matters.
Katz is an American Association for Justice advocate in litigation. Also a member of the Federal Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Foundation, and Primerus Personal Injury Institute, he presented at and moderated continuing legal education programs for LSBA, LAJ, and the National Business Institute. Currently completing a two-year term as the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans board chair, Katz is a past president of the Jewish Community Center and chaired its capital campaign. In 2011-12, he co-chaired the Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership.
His civic work earned him numerous awards: Anne Goldsmith Hanaw and J. Jerome Hanaw Tikkun Award, John N. Weinstock Leadership Award, Maurice Feingertz Memorial Leadership Award, Esther Leah Ritz Next Generation of JCC Leadership Award, and United Way of Southeast Louisiana Alexis de Tocqueville Society.
Katz is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he was president of the College of Communication and Zeta Beta Tau fraternity and a member of Blue Key Honor Society and Order of Omega. He earned a J.D. degree from Tulane University School of Law and clerked for the Orleans Parish Juvenile Indigent Defender’s Office and HH&K before joining his father, Morton H. Katz, in the family practice.
